Performance in the Park
Last night, as I walked home past the Jasper Information Centre (right in the middle of town), I saw a crowd gathering on the front lawn. I craned my neck to see what they were watching and then I heard the music start up. The Calgary Stetson Show Band was performing. They had stopped in Jasper for one night on their way to Quesnel, BC. It was quite a show; not only an awesome band but great young performers were effortlessly twirling flags, rifles, and swords in time to the music. What a treat on a beautiful summer evening in Jasper!

Jasper Covered in Explore Magazine!

Further to my last post on the Tonquin Valley, check out another great photo of the Ramparts and Amethyst Lake in the Tonquin Valley - it just happened to be on the cover of Explore Magazine in June!
ps. They also named Jasper as home to 3 of their 50 Favourite places in that issue, The Tonquin, Wilcox Pass, and Jasper Rock Cut.

Tonquin Valley July 2008
I finally hiked into the Tonquin Valley this past weekend for the first time! It has to be one of the most beautiful hikes in Jasper National Park. The weather was perfect for hiking, sunny but not too hot. The snow covered Ramparts were beautiful as well as Amethyst Lake at the base. We even saw Caribou - another first time for me! Check out the amazing views we had!

Welcome to the Jasper Tourism Blog!
Well, for our first blog, I thought I'd use someone else's words. I came across an article today in a small community newspaper in North Carolina and thought I'd share an excerpt with you.
Canadian Rocky Mountain High
" Then it was on to the town of Jasper in the Canadian Rockies. Traveling through British Columbia and Alberta, on VIA Rail Canadian was a grand experience. Great crew, great food and awesome scenery what more could you ask for in a train ride? After debarking in Jasper, Alberta, we rented another car and set out for four days of adventure in the Canadian Rockies. Folks, there aren’t enough adjectives in the English language to describe how I felt about the region, but Ill try. How about this beautiful cascading waterfalls, majestic snow-capped mountains, abundant, sometimes approachable wildlife, gorgeous flowers, and exciting adventures just scratch the surface of what we saw and experienced."
