Seanna Collins, Edmonton's Morning host for EZ Rock and host for Global TV, raves about Jasper!
Further to my last post about last weekend, check out this note we just received from Seanna Collins - take her word for it...
THANK YOU again for the invitation to the First Ever Summer Media Weekend! It was FABULOUS and the first time my husband and I really experienced Jasper. Usually we don't leave the JPL. Everything we did was new to us and we now know how many things we've been missing over the years. We have made a plan to return to "paradise" at least three or four times a year to enjoy not just the JPL but all the other wonderful sites Jasper has to offer. Maligne Lake was breath-taking .. and almost unbelievable to think it's just hours from Edmonton. People travel from all over the world to witness such beauty and we are only a short drive from it. It's such a shame not to visit more often.
I want to be sure to thank everyone who included me for this invitation.

First Maligne Lake Boat Cruise of the Year!
Wow, did I have a great weekend! Jasper Tourism hosted a great group of Edmonton and Calgary media personalities in Jasper this weekend (where, by the way, it was beautiful and sunny while I believe I heard of someone actually toboganning in Calgary on Saturday morning...June 6!!! Brrrr)
Anyway, the group I escorted along with Murray and Dieter from Jasper Adventure Centre were lucky enough to arrive at the Maligne Lake Day Lodge minutes before the first cruise of the year was to go out! The afternoon before there was still ice on the lake!! Not only that but we arrived at Spirit Island just seconds after the docks were out in so we could get out and really enjoy one of the most famous and photographed views in the entire world!
Luck was really on our side! We also saw a beautiful big black bear on the way up there and while we were up at the Jasper Tramway that afternoon, it was so clear that we were able to see Mount Robson, way over in BC, the highest mountain in the Canadaian Rockies!!!
To top it all off, that night, we enjoyed a great barbecue at the Stanley Thompson Cabin right on the Golf Course of the beautiful Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
What a day! I mean...I live here and it was super exciting; I imagine our group of city folk were just blown away! Come see why Jasper is a better place to be this summer!
