Jasper in January Media Weekend a Success!

Jasper Tourism hosted over 50 Regional Media and their families for a fun filled weekend last weekend

The weekend began on Friday night with a Meet and Greet at the DED Dog and then moved over for wine and appetizers at Papa George’s. Breakfast on the Saturday was at the Best Western Jasper and an evening “beach party” reception was held at Champs at the Sawridge.

Saturday’s event options included: skiing at Marmot Basin with a great luncheon hosted by Marmot, Maligne Canyon Ice Walk as well as a Jasper town and area tour with Jasper Adventure Centre. Sunday, the media had the option of another ski day at Marmot or an Icewalk with Overlander Trekking and Tours.

All events were very well attended and the media had a great time. The office already flooding with thank you emails from attendees as well as many mentions of Jasper and Jasper in January have been made by the media already!

Marmot Basin...It doesn't get any better than this.

This year, not only are the Canadian Rockies receiving record snow fall, but Jasper, Alberta is experiencing epic ski conditions! With more than a metre the groomers are working non-stop! Riders and gliders...this is the time to play at Marmot Basin. With the addition of the new Canadian Rockies High Speed Lift skiers and boarders have access to the biggest and fastest hi-speed quad in the Canadian Rockies. This 8 million dollar project cut the 2.3 km ride to the top in half to only 7.5 minutes. PERFECT! More time to shred the pow.

Well known for its uncrowded atmosphere , Marmot Basin gives you more time on the slopes, less waiting in lines and the bragging rights to experiencing the biggest and fastest high speed quad chair lift in the Rockies. Thank you Marmot Basin!

In celebration of the copious amounts of falling snow in the Canadian Rockies, the town of Jasper has come together with some outstanding ways to save. Visit https://www.abetterplaceto.ca/ for more details on how you can experience all that Jasper, Alberta has to offer you this winter season!

UK visitor raves about Jasper

Check out a lovely email we recieved from Lindsay Smith who won a trip to Jasper from the UK!

Hello All,
I just wanted to take this opportunity (now I have recovered from my jet lag) to thank you for the most fantastic holiday we recently spent in Jasper. As winners of the Metro competition we were treated to:

Flights through Canadian Affair on Thomas Cook Airlines - thanks to Monisha and the helpful cabin crew on Thomas Cook

Airlines Transfers with Sundog tours - private transfers for 5 hour amazing journey on the Icefield Parkway - can't be bad! www.sundogtours.com

Accomocation at the (Best Western) Jasper Inn - fantastic accomodation and great hot tub. www.jasperinn.com

Marmot Basin ski lift tickets - despite the cold we made great use of our lift passes. Just the place to perfect my parallel turns. (Thanks also to the great bus drivers who were so friendly and helpful). www.skiingjasper.com

Papa George's Restaurant - what a lovely meal and very attentive staff who could not do enough to help. (My first taste of Elk) www.astoriahotel.com

In fact our first experience of Canada raised the question, 'Why did we not come before?' Having met the friendliest locals who were genuinely interested in where we were from, where we had skiied etc and experienced scenery which was truly 'awesome' in the literal sense, I cannot wait to return. We are already planning a trip to Nova Scotia next summer and would love to bring our teenage children to Jasper to ski - our son is a prime candidate for the Ski Instructor School! (Canadian Rockies Ski Academy) http://canadianrockiesacademy.com

Thank you very much again.

Best Regards
Lindsay Smith

It's DUMPING in Jasper right now!

And boy...is it beautiful... I couldn't believe the winter wonderland I woke up to this morning. (I guess I should - it IS the middle of February in JASPER!?) But I guess I got used to the recent mild weather and little precipitation. But wow!! The Snow is back with a vengeance!!! It has been snowing steadily since last night and the temperature is a beautiful -1.
Marmot Basin is just sitting there....waiting for you...awaiting your fresh tracks. So my advice to you is this: get in your car and head out to Jasper this weekend. Or hop on the Snowtrain from Edmonton that also starts this weekend and runs for the next 10 weekends. However you do it, just be sure to get out here - the sooner the better, you don't want to miss this fresh snow!!!

Hope to see you here!
